Overview
What Per Stirpes is and how this documentation is organized.
Per Stirpes is practice software for estate planning attorneys. It runs the engagement end to end — from the first inquiry, through consultation, engagement, intake, drafting, and signing, to the closed matter — in one place, with the lifecycle as the organizing idea.
Private preview
Per Stirpes is currently in private preview with a founding firm. This documentation grows with the platform; if something you need isn't covered yet, ask your firm or write to us via perstirpes.co.
Who these docs are for
For firm staff
Attorneys and staff working in the console: the lifecycle, matters, intake review, documents, scheduling, and billing.
For clients
Clients of a firm that runs on Per Stirpes: the portal, the questionnaire, payments, and signing.
The shape of the platform
A few ideas show up everywhere, so they're worth meeting first:
- The matter is the single thread of an engagement. It begins when an inquiry arrives and carries through to closing — there is no handoff between a "lead" record and a "client" record.
- Stages derive from facts. A matter's stage isn't a dropdown anyone maintains; it's computed from things that actually happened — a form submitted, a consultation held, a letter signed. When the facts change, the board is already right.
- One client record feeds everything. Intake answers become structured client data, and documents draw from that record rather than from re-typed details.
